1.Buying a tablet with a cracked screen.
I brought from eBay an old Galaxy Tab A6 T280 with a broken screen for my little girl to use. The idea behind it was to re-use it instead of buying another “pricey” tab. The tablet was 15pounds on ebay. Search around there are many. The only thing that interested me was if the tablet was charging or not.
2. Replacing the cracked screen
First of all I have replaced the screen. I have looked at this youtube video to see how to do it. If you watch it you are going see it is easy and easy tools are required. No need to pay for expensive stuff.
3. FRP bypass and removal
If the tablet you have brought needs has the FRP and you need to bypass it then you will have to do it in order to be able to use the tablet. The FRP is a feature introduced by the smart phone manufacturers in order to protect your device in case it is stolen. In order to bypass the FRP i’ve followed this youtube video.
4. Updating the software
First thing I did after the FRP removal was to go into the settings of the tablet at About and check if it’s running the latest software. After that I have enabled Developer Mode by tapping 7 times the build number in the about section. After this I’ve enabled use apps from unknown, OEM unlocking and USB debugging. All of these options will help you in the next step to root the tablet.
5. Rooting the tablet
To root the tablet you have to go a little bit deep into the belly of the beast. This is not hard but not easy and you have to be careful because you can brick your tablet. Here is the trick i’ve used in order to root the T280 tablet. This will allow you to do more stuff with your tablet especially removing bloatware.
6. Bloatware removal
I’m using Debloater by gatesjunior to remove all the apps that I don’t need. This is the list I made that are safe and can be removed. You can find a massive list of bloatware from Samsung and other apps here. Be careful when removing them forever as some of them sometimes will make you tablet not work properly.

7. Kids Place
I’m still testing the software but I have installed Kids Place to protect all the info and misuse of a 5 year old. If you have a better or different parental control software that you would like me to try just drop a comment.
I hope you have enjoyed this little tutorial on how to repair and re-use of tablet and prepare it for a 5 year old to play with.
